Samsung Designates Kwon Oh-Hyun As New CEO

Head of components operation and business chief, Kwon Oh-Hyun, came in to replace Choi Gee-Sung as Samsung’s CEO last June 7, 2012 PDT. Kwon Oh-Hyun will now lead up the company as chief executive officer and will resume on running the company’s component business but will now be handling “corporate-wide affairs” as well.
Even though Choi has been removed as CEO, this wouldn’t mean that the company has totally let go of him. Samsung’s former CEO, Choi Gee-Sung, is now assigned as the head of Samsung Group Corporate Strategy. Samsung Group Corporate Strategy Office is the center that rules over dozens of other companies and is led and controlled by Samsung Electronics chairman, Lee Kun-Hee.
Just recently, Choi made it to the headlines after his meeting with Apple CEO Tim Cook in San Francisco to discus about the lawsuit that both parties are involved in. Contrary to what was expected, agreement between the two did not happen. News on whether Kwon will be actively involved in the existing legal case with Apple has yet to be heard.
